The field house is home. I don’t know why we pay utility bills during the fall, because we are hardly home to use water and electricity. My husband puts more hours in at the field house than I see him in our own home.
And then there are the days when I want nothing more than to support you but I have nothing to give. I am physically exhausted, mentally spent, and I think if I hear one more spiel about offensive strategy or next week's opponent I will pull my hair out. Those days are hard.
My advice to a fellow coach's wife who finds herself in a difficult season, is to surround herself and lean on her tribe. The people who know you the most and understand what it is like in this crazy coaching world are your biggest supporters.
So, my first-year coach’s wife self, you’ve got this. Surround yourself with people who inspire you, care for you, and have your back. Find the good. Try and ignore the not-so-pleasant.
