Go out of your way to make others feel welcome, valued, and seen. Stop focusing so much on who is leaving you out or what group you want to be part of. Some girl is thinking that same thing and wishing she could be included with you.
I want my children to learn through you that one person can make a difference and that the most effective way to lead is not through words, but through one’s actions.
You’ll miss the squeak of your sneakers on the court, the way your practice jersey smells by Wednesday, the unique taste of your sweat from the free-throw line. You’ll miss the bus rides and the gas station snacks, team dinners and locker room banter.
We were given this season to love and support a group of young men that have shown us their true character. Character that is revealed through adversity, and these athletes demonstrated tremendous character in the way they prepared and competed every week.
Could he do this job without my blessing? Yes. But, when I give him my blessing and fully 100% support him, does it make his job easier? Absolutely. And when his job is made easier, does he dedicate himself a little more? Stay at practice a little later? Have a little less weight on his shoulders? I sure hope so.
