Feature Friday: Candace Webb

Feature Friday: Candace Webb

I’ve been married to my coach for 28 years, but this is only year 3 of living this coach's wife life. I have been teaching kindergarten for 23 years and my husband went back to a school to finally fulfill his lifelong dream of coaching at the age of 45. We teach and he coaches in the same school district and schools that our 2 older kids graduated from and our youngest attends. We have 3 children that range from 27-12 years old. The oldest 2 are beginning their teaching careers this year. The youngest will be moving to the middle school with Coach. We are lifelong residents in our county and community.

What is your favorite part of this lifestyle?

  • Friday nights and watching him do what he loves. I teach at the lower elementary that feeds into the high school where he coaches and I love that I get to watch the students play for him that I once taught.
What is your LEAST favorite part of this lifestyle?
  • The loneliness that the season brings. We’ve been together 30 years and have spent the greater part of our lives doing everything together, so adjusting to the loneliness during football season has been the greatest challenge for me.
What is one item you can't live without that makes this life easier?
  • Parking pass and reserved seats!
What is your go to concession stand order or must have snack?
  • Nachos and water.
What is the craziest thing you have survived due to this lifestyle?
  • Completing my National Boards in the same year as my coach’s first year as a football coach while juggling our life.
What is one thing you would go back and tell your younger self?
  • It will get done tomorrow!
