Dear Coach,
I see you.
I see you coach through the losses. I see all the time, effort, love, sweat, heart, and passion you pour into the program.
I see you keep your composure when the score is not what you want. I see you keep your head held high for the boys on your team, for your staff, for the fans, and most importantly for our children. I see you always being positive, always coaching up your staff and the boys. I see you never giving up.
I see you, and I believe in you.
I believe in all that you stand for, all that you teach your players. I believe in your ability to turn a program around, and I believe that your passion and your love for the game is just what these boys and the community need.
I believe in you, and I trust you.
I trust the plays you call, and the calls you question. I trust the process. I trust your knowledge of the game, and I trust that every decision you make is for the betterment of your team.
I love you.
I love watching you coach. I love watching the one I love do what he loves.
I love that you said yes. You said yes to taking over a losing program days before the season started. You said yes to leading a team of boys that were used to coaches walking away. You said yes to a group of athletes you knew deserved better and have what it takes to be successful.
I am proud.
I am proud you are my husband. I am proud that when the rest of the world sees failure, you see an opportunity to grow. I am proud that although everyone may think the game is over, you and your staff are still coaching for all four quarters. I am proud of what you stand for, the qualities that you demonstrate for your boys, and I am proud of the class that your team always displays even when its not reciprocated from the other team.
I can’t wait until we win.
We need a win. It isn’t easy always being on the losing end, but think of all that is being learned through these losses. Learning about character, hard work, and believing in yourself when others don’t. Brotherhood, having one another’s back, getting knocked down, but getting right back up and making that next play. So many life lessons are learned on that field. So much growth comes from the losses.
You mean the world to me. You mean the world to our children, and I guarantee you mean the world to several student athletes who look up to you during these important years of their lives. They can look up to a coach that is positive and supportive. A coach who never stops coaching no matter the score. A coach who finds an opportunity for growth in every second of the game. A coach who always believes in them.
You, my husband, are what the world needs more of. A person who longs for the success of winning, but knows that life’s best and most important lessons are learned through the process.
I see you through these losses, dear husband. I am proud of you. I believe in you, I trust you, and I love you. Friday night may not be what you planned for yet again, but know you will always have my love and support.
Forever and always,
Your super proud wife!
