Dear Star Player,
You’re being watched.
When you score those touchdowns. When you make that open field tackle.
When you make that near-impossible catch.
You’re being watched.
When you come up short on fourth and goal.
When you miss that tackle that let them score.
When you drop that pass that hit you in the hands.
There are Little Eyes on You.
Dear Second String Player,
You’re being watched.
When you stand on the sidelines.
When you cheer for your other teammates.
When you high five the starter in your position when he comes off the field.
You’re being watched.
When you sit on the bench.
When you don’t get to play a single down.
When you feel like you deserve more playing time.
There are Little Eyes On You.
Dear Teenage Boys,
You’re being watched.
When you think you’re invisible.
When you think no one sees you.
When you’re not in the spotlight.
You’re being watched.
When you’re off the field.
When you greet your family.
When you say a prayer after the game.
There are Little Eyes on You.
I’m sure there are way more than I know about, but I know a special group of coaches' kids that are watching and admiring your every move. They’re watching to see what the boys are like that their daddies spend so much time with. I know this is a lot of pressure to put on a teenager, but we need you to be an example of a strong character for our kids. Their little eyes see your every move, good and bad.
Please, show them what it means to be successful yet humble.
Show them what it means to fail yet persevere.
Show them what it means to support others that have what you want.
Show them what it means to be a person of character.
Show them what it means to respect your parents, your coaches, your teammates, and yourself.
Because you’re being watched, you have Little Eyes on You.
Much love and support always,
A mom of a coach’s kid
