The Weight I Carry Under the Lights

The Weight I Carry Under the Lights

Being a coach’s wife is not just a season, it’s a calling

I’m a mama to a strong and beautiful 4-year-old daughter with autism. Our daily life requires structure, patience, therapy, and faith. Add in the demands of football season, and it can feel like I’m holding it all up on my own.

Even in the off-season, the weight doesn’t lift; it just shifts

Friday nights are some of the hardest. While the world sees lights and touchdowns, I often sit in the stands holding tears, praying through overstimulation, or answering questions my daughter can’t yet ask. I try to be the biggest cheerleader for my husband, even when I’m emotionally drained. And sometimes, people don’t understand that I’ve heard the whispers, the critiques, the judgment.

But I choose not to carry that. Instead, I hold tight to God. I remind myself that He sees me when no one else does. He strengthens me when I feel invisible. He gives me peace when the noise is too loud. To any other mother trying to hold it together during long practices, loud games, therapy sessions, or quiet tears- I see you.

You are doing the best you can

Your faith, your love, and your presence matter more than you know. You don’t have to be perfect, you just have to be present.

She is also a daughter, friend, and encourager walking through life with faith, purpose, and resilience. Whether she is in the classroom, on the sidelines, or at home navigating meltdowns and milestones, she leans on God through every season.
