Through the Eyes of a Coach's Kid

Through the Eyes of a Coach's Kid

Hey Friday Night Wife!
My name is Lydi Simmons. Throughout my childhood, I was a high school football coach's kid. I learned so many things as a coach's kid including the fact that there is nothing like Friday night when you're looking for a win and Saturday morning when you found one, that losing sucks, and that leaders make those around them better.

I learned that body language makes a huge difference, family isn't just your relatives, and you should always play through the whistle. Christian rap really is the G.O.A.T, coach's family really is the best, "character-character-character", and anything can happen on a Friday night road trip to a football game.

It was also clear to me that coaches are the most passionate people in the whole entire world, and Daddy works so hard because he loves me lots and lots. Friday is without a doubt the best day of the week, always cheer loud and proud, run the freakin' ball, no huddle offense is better, and victory formation is the best play of all time.

Finally, during my years as a coach's kid, I saw firsthand who the heroes of Friday nights are. These special individuals are also the heroes on Monday nights when its late and coach is still at the office, on Sundays during meetings, when Hudl is constantly playing in their house, and in the midst of all of the crazy hours that their husband is putting in that no one will ever know about.

These people are you, the coaches' wives.

So, to every coach's wife and especially my mama, THANK YOU! There is no doubt that you people are something special! You are fiercely passionate, deeply supportive, and typically very talented at packing a U-Haul.

Thank you for the way that you give, love, and sacrifice. I pray that you never feel unnoticed. Because at the end of the day…you are my hero. And coach's wives will forever hold a special place in my heart.

Hey y'all! My name is Lydia Simmons. I live in middle Georgia. I am a high school student who plays soccer and softball, loves her family and Jesus deeply, and is absolutely a football girl. Growing up, I was a high school football coach's kid and I am so thankful for those experiences and memories that are still helping to shape me into the person and athlete that I am today.
